Additional space brings facility to over one million square feet, ranking it among largest in North America

Toronto Congress Centre, a division of Congress Centres Inc. today announced plans for a major expansion that will bring the facility’s trade and convention space to over one million square feet. Slated to open in the fall of 2007, the addition of Toronto Congress Centre North (TCC North), will establish Canada’s largest privately owned show and meeting place as a mega-facility, ranking it among the top 10 convention sites in North America. Upon completion, TCC North will put Toronto Congress Centre at the forefront of 21st century meeting place architecture and environmentalism.

In a bold new approach to meeting and trade show facilities, the expansion establishes Toronto Congress Centre as a leader in user-flexibility, energy and environmental design. Sustainable attributes such as indoor air quality, energy efficiency, green energy and water conservation are being incorporated throughout, putting the new facility at the forefront of applied ecology. Its eco-friendly design and infrastructure fuses business with a healthier and more productive environment.

The blueprint for the expansion, which is located just north of the existing Toronto Congress Centre South, includes a massive lobby area that offers adaptable way finding, a living green environment and plenty of natural light. Upon completion, the expansion will offer 500,000 square feet of additional exhibition space, including 40 meeting rooms and a 25,000 square foot ballroom.

The site will combine the traditional elements of the south building with a sleek, contemporary and seamless exterior that expresses the next generation of trade shows and conventions. Indoors and out, the completed facility will be a place where business, pleasure and the natural environment merge to create a truly great customer experience.

“Toronto Congress Centre is a customer centric organization.
